A Ceremonial Celebration of the 156th Anniversary of the National Theatre in Belgrade Was Held on the Main Stage

On November 22, the National Theatre in Belgrade celebrated its 156th anniversary with a ceremonial programme held, according to tradition, at noon on the Main Stage, during which numerous awards were presented, with a review of the most significant events of the previous year.

The “Raša Plaović” Award, which the National Theatre presents for the Best Acting Performance on all Belgrade theatre stages in the 2023/2024 season, went to Radovan Vujović for the role of Mr. Matković in the play “Mister Dollar”, based on the text by Branislav Nušić, dramatized by Periša Perišić, directed by Miloš Lolić and produced by the National Theatre in Belgrade.

The National Theatre Award for the Best Play in the period between the two National Theatre Days was awarded to the “Banović Strahinja” ballet, adapted to the music of Ivan Ilić and choreographed by Igor Kirov.

Zdenka Milanović, head of the Marketing Department, received the Award in recognition of her extremely significant overall work contribution, while the Award for extremely significant overall artistic contribution went to Nataša Ninković, a premier stage actress at the National Theatre in Belgrade, for performing the role of Fema in Jovan Sterija Popović's play “The Upstart” directed by Iva Milošević.

The National Theatre Plaque for this year was awarded to the Museum of Theatrical Arts of the Republic of Serbia and the celebrated theatre, television and film actress and a long-time premier stage actress of the National Theatre Drama Department, Ljiljana Blagojević.

The seal of the National Theatre, which is awarded by the General Manager's decision for a special contribution to the life and work of the National Theatre, was presented to Aleksandar Berček, Radomir Putnik, Branko Jerinić, Lepomir Ivković, Miodrag D. Jovanović, Stela Ćetković, Suzana Petričević, Mila Dragičević and Vladan Gajović.

The Best Individual Premiere Artistic Achievement Awards within the repertoire of the National Theatre in the period between the two National Theatre Days were awarded to: Jovica Begojev, for his role of Coppelius in L. Delibes' ballet “Coppélia”, choreographed by Ljubinka and Petar Dobrijević, Evgenija Jeremić, for the role of Amelia in “Simon Boccanegra” (guest performance at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb), Sonja Šarić, for the role of Amelia in “Simon Boccanegra”, at the opera opening night, Miloš Lolić for directing the play “Mr. Dollar” by Branislav Nušić, Nada Šargin for the role of Margarita in the play “The Master and Margarita” based on the novel by Mikhail Bulgakov, dramatized by Kata Gyarmati  and directed by Andraš Urban and Pavle Jerinić, for the role of Woland in the play “The Master and Margarita”.
