Ljubicа Vraneš Appointed Artistic Director of the Opera at the National Theatre in Belgrade

The National Theatre in Belgrade has appointed Ljubica Vranesh, a renowned opera artist, as the new artistic director of the Opera.
Ljubica Vraneš, a mezzo-soprano and principal singer of the opera ensemble, completed her undergraduate studies and master’s degree at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in the class of Professor Radmila Bakočević.
The most significant role in her career has been Carmen, which she has successfully interpreted in numerous productions both in Serbia and internationally, including a rock version of this opera.
She is a recipient of the first prize for best mezzo-soprano at the “Nikola Cvjetić” competition. Furthermore, she received the “Kapetan Miša Anastasijević” Award, as well as the Award from the Cultural and Educational Community of Serbia. Recently, she was honoured with the “Sretenje Order”, a gold medal for exceptional merits and achievements in the field of opera art.
She was a member of the Opera Studio of the National Theatre, led by Professor Nikola Kitanovski, and later the Opera Studio “Borislav Popović”, under the guidance of Professor Radmila Bakočević and Maestro Dejan Savić.
She debuted in the role of Fenena in Verdi’s opera “Nabucco” at the Timișoara Opera in Romania, which opened doors for her to many other Romanian opera houses, as well as theatres in the region. She has achieved a series of successful performances in the operas “Otello”, “Don Carlos”, “Rigoletto”, “Nabucco”, “Cavalleria Rusticana”, and “Samson and Delilah”.
Ljubica Vranesh is an extraordinary artist whose talent and dedication to opera art leave a profound mark on the world of music.
